Dolly Parton's marriage secret

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6

Dolly Parton has admitted she's in an "open marriage" with her husband Carl Dean — and she's hinted that infidelity is the secret to the longevity of their relationship.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, the 61-year-old singer says, "I don't want to know it, if he's cheating on me. If I'm cheating on him, he wouldn't want to know it — and if we do, if that's what's making it work, then that's fine, too." She adds, "But actually I can't imagine that either of us would ever marry again."

Dolly married Carl in 1966, but he's rarely been seen in public with his wife and never gives interviews.

"He doesn't give a damn for show-business or this Dolly Parton business," she explains. "The best way to make a marriage last is to stay gone. He's pretty much a homebody, so he's glad to stay home. I can't stay home 'cause I'm a gypsy. I love to go everywhere, do everything, meet everybody."
