Prince William cancels event to stay by Kate’s side

Prince William pulled out of an appearance at the spectacular British Military Tournament over the weekend to stay by his pregnant wife’s side.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is resting at Kensington Palace after again suffering severe morning sickness on Sunday.

Catherine was only recently released after spending three nights in King Edward VII Hospital recovering from hyperemesis gravidarum .

“The Duke of Cambridge will no longer attend the British Military Tournament at Earl’s Court this evening, but will spend Sunday privately with the Duchess instead,” a St James’s Palace spokesman said.

The Prince originally planned to attend the event with Kate prior to her falling ill and announcing her pregnancy, but all of her public engagements have now been cancelled.

However, Prince William did attend the fundraising Winter Whites Gala in London on Saturday and commented on his wife’s condition.

“I don’t know why they call it morning sickness — they should call it all day and all night sickness,” William said.

“[Recovery is] a long old process but she is getting there. She feels like it is going to go on forever.”

The Duchess will remain on bed rest as she recovers from her severe morning sickness.

“It is well known that hyperemesis gravidarum often recurs and, until further notice, to allow the Duchess a degree of privacy during her pregnancy, we do not intend to offer regular condition checks or advise of routine developments associated with it,” a St James’s Palace spokesman says.
