While she has alluded to it in the past, Katie Holmes has never spoken openly about her divorce from Tom Cruise, until now.
In a candid interview with People, Katie opens up about her divorce from the megastar, life as a single mum and her career.
Katie and Tom made international headlines when they announced their divorce in 2012, but two years on, Katie says she has put that part of her life behind her.
“I don’t want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am,” she told People. “I don’t want that to be what I’m known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now.”

Talking about how she lives her life now, it’s clear Katie is a changed woman.
“I don’t have any fear now, I don’t have a lot of rules for myself, and I don’t take myself that seriously.”
Speaking about life as a single mum, Katie said the pair’s 8-year-old daughter Suri ‘means everything’ to her.
“I’m learning every day, and I have been since the minute I became a mom,” she said.
And while she loves being a mum, she admits the role certainly has its challenges.
“My patience has grown, but between 4 and 6pm … I mean, wow,” she said. “Between tickle fights and glitter art, I try to throw in some manners along the way.”
