Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s divorce is reportedly getting messy – and it’s all down to who’s getting custody of their eight dogs!
Mariah, 44, and Nick, 34, have reportedly kept things amicable when it comes to a parenting agreement for their two kids, three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. Apparently, they’ve even managed settle things regarding a fortune of nearly $600 million. But when it comes to their beloved pets, things aren’t so simple.

Sunday Expressreports that Mariah has insisted in court papers that she maintain custody of each and every one of their eight Jack Russell Terriers: The Good Reverend Pow Jackson, Mutley P Gore Jackson The Third, Jill E Beans, Pipitty Jackson, Cha, Jackie Lambchops, JJ, and Squeak E Beans.
“She has had Jack Russell terriers since she was a little girl and most of her current pack come from rescue shelters in the US,” a long-time friend of the diva says.
“Since they’ve been married, Nick has come to love their pooches too and, even if he ends up with a couple of them, he will sorely miss the rest and hopes to see them when he can,” the friend adds.

“But I don’t think he could handle more than two. Mariah’s personal staff are well drilled in the animals’ daily routine of being washed and groomed and, most days, having one of her chefs prepare their food.”
The pampered pooches seem to be accustomed to the finer things in life, with Mariah admitting to spending over $50,000 a year on luxury spa treatments for the brood. Earlier this year, she even flew them to the UK on a private jet for a canine vacation at The Paw Seasons luxury doggie hotel in Bristol, where she reportedly demanded that staff follow personalised daily menus for each of her spoilt pups.

It’s no wonder that Mariah might be having trouble saying goodbye to them in a divorce settlement!
While neither Nick nor Mariah has confirmed that the divorce is underway, both have publicly alluded to it, with Nick making comments to Peoplemagazine and Mariah recently slamming Nick on stage in song lyrics that suggested that he had cheated.
Since Nick confirmed in August that he and Mariah are living apart, theAmerica’s Got Talentpresenter has been linked to other women, including Amber Rose – who recently announced her own split from rapper Wiz Khalifa. However, friends of both Amber and Nick have denied the rumours.

Nick, meanwhile, toldPeoplemagazine: “Ultimately, I would think that is what life is all about, to try to pursue happiness. And I try to wake up and take each day with a grain of salt, and say, ‘How can I be happy today? How can I affect someone else’s day, and hopefully make them happy?'”
Nick and Mariah married in 2008, just one month after they met, and have been together for six years.
