The rivalry between Modern Family stars heats up as Julie Bowen says that Sofia Vergara and her new beau Joe Manganiello are ” just too good looking”.
Sofia, 42 and her hunky new man Joe, 37, were recently linked not long before Sofia’s birthday when the pair of them were spotted on a date together.
“I have never met him. I saw him certainly and he does not hurt my eyes,” Sofia’s co-star Julie, 44, told ET Canada. “You know it almost is like a genetic explosion and there might not be enough diversity in the gene pool because they are just too good looking.”
She is not wrong there: they certainly make one fortunate-looking pair! Is there perhaps a little passive-aggression behind Julie’s comments though?
Reports of an on-set feud between the two have surrounded the Modern Family stars for years now. As far back as 2009, Sofia went on US talk show Chelsea Lately, where she got her co-stars name wrong, calling her “Julie Roland”. It’s reported that Julie also referred to Sofia, who was born in Colombia, as “Cholo Barbie” – “cholo” being a derogatory term for Hispanic.
The feud continued to heat up in Australia earlier this year when the whole Modern Family cast came to Sydney to film a down-under special of the show with Bowen saying in an interview with News Ltd that she could stand naked on Bondi Beach next to Sofia and “no-one would notice”.
Julie concluded her comments on Sofia and Joe’s new relationship by saying: “But ya know God bless her, she’s amazing and if he’s nice to her I am all for it.”
Hmm, is she being genuine there or do we sense a bit of passive-aggression behind her comments?
We suspect that she’s not the only one though – there is sure to be plenty of jealousy surrounding such a ridiculously good-looking couple-up!
