Robin Williams back in rehab

Robin Williams has checked himself back into rehab to continue his commitment to sobriety.

The US comedian and actor, who has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction in the past, is receiving treatment at Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center in Lindstrom, Minnesota, TMZ reports.

The 62-year-old is currently working back to back projects and has decided to take the proactive measures to refocus.

“[He is] simply taking the opportunity to finetune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud,” his rep told TMZ.

Robin last checked into a rehab centre in 2006 for alcoholism after 20 years of sobriety.

During the peak of his career in the late 1970s, Robin became addicted to alcohol and cocaine.

“Cocaine for me was a place to hide. Most people get hyper on coke. It slowed me down,” he told People back in 1988.

“Sometimes it made me paranoid and impotent, but mostly it just made me withdrawn. And I was so crazy back then — working all day, partying most of the night — I needed an excuse not to talk. I needed quiet times and I used coke to get them.”
