Hollywood star of the silver screen Lauren Bacall has passed away, aged 89
Lauren, who was one of the leading ladies of the golden era of Hollywood, passed away at her home on Tuesday. TMZ reports that she died of a stroke.
Best known for classic films such as The Big Sleep, Mirror Has Two Faces, Designing Woman, and To Have and Have, in 2010 she won an honorary Oscar for her contribution to the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Known for her husky voice and sultry good looks, Bacall was also married to fellow movie star Humphrey Bogart from 1945 to 1957, when he died of oesophageal cancer.
The pair were known by their affectionate nickname as “Bogey and Bacall” and co-starred in Key Largo together – one of their biggest films. They married when he was 45 and she was just 20. Together they had two children, Leslie and Sam.
After Humphrey passed away Lauren briefly dated Frank Sinatra Jason Robards Jr in 1961 and divorced him in 1969. Together they had son Sam Robards.
She leaves behind three children, Leslie Bogart, 61, Stephen Bogart, 65, and Sam Robards, 52.
