Sonia Kruger reveals she is expecting a baby GIRL

Sonia Kruger has revealed that she is expecting a beautiful baby GIRL.

The 48-year-old host of Big Brother and Mornings announced the sex of her unborn baby during tonight’s episode of Channel Nine’s A Current Affair.

Chatting to Leila McKinnon, Sonia was clearly ecstatic to reveal that she is expecting a beautiful baby GIRL.

Sonia also opened up about the difficulties that she and her partner, TV executive Craig McPherson, have experienced trying to conceive, revealing that she has been undergoing IVF treatment for over four years and tragically miscarried twice before the couple decided to use a donor egg.

“I’ve conceived naturally a couple of times and miscarried pretty early in the piece. My doctor was very clear with me… women who are 45 or older have pretty much zero chance of conceiving [naturally].”

Sonia continued: “It was at that point that my Doctor said to me “when you see a celebrity at that age who has conceived at the age…make no doubt about it that it was via a donor.”

Sonia also referred to fellow Aussie celebrity Mary Coustas who also conceived via donor egg and then gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Jamie last year at age 49.

ACA presenter Leila Mackinnon, who has been through a similar process with IVF, said that she often gets asked, “why did you wait so long? [to try and conceive].”

Sonia said that for her, the idea that she had put having a baby on hold because of her career, was a major misconception: “For me, it was more about making sure I was in the right place at the right time and being in the right relationship and for me that didn’t happen until later in life… For me, age is irrelevant to being a good parent.”

Sonia also mentioned that she has had an outpouring of positive support since she and Craig announced their happy news via Twitter on the weekend.

“I feel great. It’s been an amazing weekend. I’ve had so many well-wishers – it’s been like Christmas,” she told Leila on ACA.

Earlier today, on Mornings, the TV show that she-costs, she also shared the heart-warming moment that she broke the news to her fellow host David Campbell. Watch the cute video here.

Speaking to The Australian Women’s Weekly in an exclusive interview out Thursday, Sonia said: “I want to be really open with people about the fact it is an egg donor baby because we occasionally see in the media women over the age of 40 falling pregnant and having babies. And I know from personal experience that you can be lulled into a false sense of security, believing you can put off motherhood and fall pregnant when you want to. But it’s not true. At least, it wasn’t for me.”

Sonia’s full exclusive interview with The Weekly will be released in the magazine on sale this Thursday – the same day that the television star turns 49.
