Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to meet the Pope during Italy visit

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will have an audience with none other than Pope Francis during their family trip to Italy.

Angelina, 39, and Brad, 51, will participate in a “VIP meet-and-greet at the Vatican with Pope Francis,” an insider has told Us Weekly.

The Brangelina brood are currently touring the Mediterranean nation, with Angelina spotted out shopping with daughters Zahara, 9 and tomboy Shiloh, 8 at a toy shop in Rome.

The meeting is perhaps an unusual one given both Brad and Ange’s previous statements of indifference on matters religious.

Brad told the Hollywood Reporter in 2012 that: “I don’t have a great relationship with religion. I oscillate between agnosticism and atheism.”

Meanwhile Unbroken director Angelina recently drew criticism for depicting what she referred to as a “universal” faith in her film about Olympian and WWII prisoner of war Louis Zamperini, who was in fact, a Christian.

Angelina told reporters last year that: “We made it universal, not specific to one faith, and that was something that was agreed upon with Louie,” (via Religion News).

Ange said that Louis: “said he wanted the message to reach everyone. He said to make faith and forgiveness universal.”

It’s perhaps not surprising the ‘Holywood’ (see what we did there?) power-couple would be meeting with such a renowned religious leader though, after all Angelina has met with none other than her majesty the Queen who made her an honorary dame for her humanitarian work.

Angelina and Brad last year attended an anti-rape summit alongside George Clooney’s human-rights barrister wife Amal Clooney and Angelina is known for her work as a special envoy to the United Nations.

A meeting with none other than Pope Francis will no doubt seal the deal on Brad and Angelina’s reputation as Hollywood’s political power couple!
