Gwyneth Paltrow is advising women to have their vagina steamed

Gwyneth Paltrow vagina steaming

Gwyneth Paltrow steams her vagina and she recommends you do, too!

The actress, known for her healthy lifestyle choices, seems to have taken her latest cleanliness obsession to the next level.

Gwyneth recently posted on her lifestyle website Goop, recommending that women steam out their vaginas in order to deliver an energy boost and powerful internal cleanse.

Don’t worry, the Oscar-winning actress is not recommending you do this at home. Instead, if you’re ever in the Santa Monica region, you must drop by Tikkun Spa.

“The real golden ticket here is the Mugwort V-Steam,” she said

“You sit on what is essentially a mini-throne, and a combination of infrared and mugwort steam cleanses your uterus, et al.”

Gwyneth added that the V-Steam is “an energetic release – not just a steam douche – that balances female hormone levels. If you’re in LA, you have to do it.”

Gwyneth, though very healthy, is not a health expert…

According to Dr Jen Gunter, a certified obstetrician, gynaecologist and expert in vulvovaginal disorders, Gwyneth’s medical claims are by no means healthy or advisable.

Dr Gunter took to her blog to warn them of the dangers involved with steaming.

“Steam is probably not good for your vagina. Herbal steam is no better and quite possibly worse.”

She explained in more detail, “Mugwort or wormwood or whatever when steamed, either vaginally or on the vulva, can’t possibly balance any reproductive hormones, regulate your menstrual cycle, treat depression or cure infertility.”

Dr Gunter also shot down Gwyneth’s claim that the steam cleanses your uterus.

“Steam isn’t going to get into your uterus from your vagina unless you are using an attachment with some kind of pressure and MOST DEFINITELY NEVER EVER DO THAT.”

Dr David L Finke, an LA-based OB/GYN provided a second opinion, stating,

“I don’t think it’s completely crazy to say [the steam] could be beneficial.

“As far as bold claims that doing this will change hormonal balance or cleanse the uterus, it’s probably bogus,” he noted.

We think steaming is best left in the kitchen!
