Columbian pop-star Shakira is in labour with her second child and reportedly claimed an “entire floor of private hospital for the birth”.
Shakira, 37, went into labour today and her famous footballer husband Gerard Pique, 27, reportedly reserved an entire floor of the Quiron Teknon Hospital to ensure privacy for the pop star and allow family to wait in adjoining rooms.
Shakira and Gerard already have one son together – Milan – who celebrated his 2nd birthday just days ago on January 22nd with a party at a luxury Barcelona hotel.
The Columbian pop singer announced that she was expecting in August last year and she and Gerard announced a “World baby shower” campaign just days ago for UNICEF, designed to encourage people to buy “inspired gifts” for children in need.
The campaign website states that “Inspired Gifts are real life saving items that are delivered to vulnerable children around the world.”
Shakira and Gerard first met during the 2010 World Cup when Shakira was promoting and performing her world cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).” Gerard, 27, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team.
In a kind of anniversary, both Gerard and Shakira participated again in last year’s World Cup, with Shakira performing her new World Cup single “La La La (Brazil 2014)” at the closing ceremony .
“If it wasn’t for the World Cup, my son Milan would not be here,” Shakira told the Associated Press before performing.
Shakira also previously opened up to Latina magazine about how motherhood has changed her since having son Milan: “When you have a baby, when you feel his love, you feel so at peace with the world,” she said.
“You just want to share the good news and share how happy you feel.”
