After seven years working as a 9News foreign correspondent, Peter Stefanovic is finally back home and his big brother Karl couldn’t be happier!

While the Today host wasn’t able to greet his younger brother at the airport, that certainly didn’t stop Karl from giving him a warm boisterous welcome.

In true Karl Stefanovic form, he sent a screaming entourage and camera crew to greet his very tired brother at Sydney airport.

Nothing could prepare the veteran journalist, who has covered conflicts in war torn Gaza and Iraq, for what his brother had waiting for him. At the helm of the airport was a bevy of half-naked lifeguards waving “Pete 4 Life” placards accompanied by a horn band.

“I’m tired, I’m tired,” a stunned Peter said when asked how he felt to be back on home soil.

“I’m not a great flyer; I woke up during every bump.

“I’m just a little bit overwhelmed at the moment.”

Karl wanted “to give him a big cuddle”, but had to work.

“For the past seven years, my brother Pete has been overseas, travelling the world as a foreign correspondent for Nine News. This morning, finally, he flew home,” Karl said on the Today facebook page alongside the video of Pete’s homecoming.

“There were plenty of people to meet him at the airport – this is how I punked Pete”.

There’s one person we’re sure Peter is excited to see and cuddle, and that’s his partner Karl’s colleague, Sylvia Jeffreys.

“He is not far away. I’m looking forward to having him home,” Sylvia said about Peter’s return, though she might have to battle with Karl to share time with him!

“I’ll be lucky if I get a minute with him, once his brothers are done with him,” she said.

“I’m going to have to be very patient and willing to share.”
