It was initially thought the newlyweds spent their Honeymoon in the English countryside – where it’s believed that George purchased Amal a sprawling country estate right near the real life Downton Abbey.
It’s now emerged though that the pair holidayed on the luxurious North Island –in the Seychelles – an island nation off the East Coast of Africa. The exotic destination was also the royal vacation of choice for Prince William and Duchess Catherine after their royal wedding.
The North Island eco-resort was named as the most expensive hotel in the world earlier this year via a survey conducted byTravelmag.com, with rooms starting from $3,779 a night and range up to $5970 a night for the island’s top Villa – which is no doubt where George and Amal stayed!

George and Amal Clooney spent their Honeymoon enjoying tropical bliss on the luxurious North Island –in the Seychelles – an island nation off the East Coast of Africa
The pair wed in Venice in last month where their big day attracted hordes of photographers, fans and tourists desperate to catch a glimpse of one of the world’s most famous couples.
After the chaos and crowds of their Venetian wedding, it’s little wonder that the couple chose to spend their Honeymoon in seclusion on the isolated tropical island.
The North Island eco-resort was named as the most expensive hotel in the world earlier this year via a survey conducted by Travelmag.com, with rooms starting from $3,779 a night and range up to $5970 a night for the island’s top Villa – which is no doubt where George and Amal stayed!
Guests can only access the secluded island via helicopter which costs $1125 each way.
The island represents the epitome of seclusion and privacy with only 11 handcrafted guest villas, spread out along the main beach.
Each villa has a private garden and is equipped with a golf cart plus mountain bikes for cruising around the island.
Each of the built areas on the island is handcrafted from local materials by craftsmen and artists.
Seychelles forms part of the world’s longest coral reef system which means that it’s also home to some of the world’s best scuba diving sites.
Activities on the island include sea kayaking, mountain biking, sunset cruises, guided walks and a while lot of relaxing and enjoying the view.
The luxurious island also hosted the Royal honeymoon after Prince William and Duchess Catherine tied the know back in 2011.
Renowned as a playground to the rich and famous, the rich and famous guests who have stayed at the resort form part of a very select group.
Although the island may be isolated, guests need not fret about a shortage of fine food and wine on the island – as evidenced by this enormous wine cellar at the resort!
It’s not just about luxury though, the luxury resort is also highly ecologically conscious.
In an effort to give back, the eco-resort also runs a conservation programme on the island which aims to preserve the stunning indigenous flora and flora of the island.
The most expensive and immaculate accommodation is ‘Villa North Island’ which according to the website is the essence of luxury, privacy and seclusion.
According to the accommodation brochures: “The sheer volume, scale and luxury of this villa are unimaginably decadent as it spreads out across multi-tiered levels, cascading down granitic boulders onto a private beach entry to the ocean.”
We would certainly love to enjoy a slice of this paradise but with prices starting from $3,779 a night, it might be a little out of reach!

The exclusive island off the East Coast of Africa has also played host to George’s pals Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The dining experience on the island is also said to be like no other – there are no menus.
Instead, the hotel boasts: “Our chef develops your own daily carte du jour based on your preferences and desires”
We can imagine George and Amal kicking back like this and taking in the view their luxury villa – what a life!
