The young prince took part in the tribute ahead of Remembrance Sunday this weekend.
The 30-year-old was given the honour of opening the 86th field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey.
Dressed in full military attire, Harry was visibly moved as he laid a Cross of Remembrance made out of poppies to mark the occasion.

Following the ceremony, Harry, who holds the rank of captain, spent over an hour visiting plots and meeting war veterans who had attended the service.
“Harry was saying how nice it was to see the names on all the crosses,” Lisa McKinlay, the widow of Lance Corporal Jonathan McKinlay who served in Afghanistan, said at the event.
“He knows about The Rifles and everything they do, and was saying how much support they give to their families.
“He said you have to strike a balance between spending your time remembering what has happened and moving forward with your job and family.”

The Queen took part in another Remembrance event, opening the Flanders’ Fields Memorial Garden in London, where she was joined by her husband Prince Philip and grandson Prince William.
