Catherine, 33, who is now four months pregnant with her second child, hosted the first ever Wellbeing in Schools Awards to honour children who had overcome enormous difficulties to become “child champions” and have gone on to help others.

The awards were created by children’s mental health charity Place2Be, which the Duchess has been a patron of since 2013.

Catherine looked elegant as ever in a black dress with sheer mesh polka dot detail as she met with the 20 Awards finalists before presenting the Child Champion Award to 11-year old Bailey Dunne.

Guests gathered at the Kensington Palace State Apartments, just next door to where Kate left Prince William and Prince George for the evening at their home at Apartment 1A.

The Duke and Duchess have been living in the apartment, which was formerly home to Princess Margaret, for just over one year now, after spending $8 million to have it renovated and refurbished.

While the Awards guests didn’t get to see inside that apartment, it certainly would have been a convenient evening out for Duchess Catherine!

Benita Refson, the Chief Executive Officer of Place2Be: “This is a wonderful, exciting opportunity to honour our young people and schools in such a wonderful setting.

“The Duchess’ total and utter belief in what we do and her commitment to children’s mental health is incredible.”
