Prince George’s first year: a video tribute
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly planning a low-key event at their Royal apartment in Kensington Palace with just close friends and family, however Clarence House has denied claims that Queen Elizabeth II will be the “guest of honour”.

Gifts at the first birthday will be modest also, with William and Kate expected to gift George with a wooden train set, with his nanny Maria Borrallo contributing a cake for the occasion.

George’s grandmother Carole Middleton – a professional party planner, also hosted a Peter Rabbit themed party for the family on Friday at her Berkshire home which leads us to wonder if she will also plan the official party for the young Prince. Modesty is perhaps sensible for the young Prince – he certainly received ample gifts already earlier this year when on the Royal tour down under.

Woman’s Day understands Prince William, who spent his first birthday with his nanny because his parents were in Canada at the time, wants to make sure his son is surrounded by close family and friends on his special day. Unfortunately, not all the royal invitees will be in attendance though.

George’s parents – the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are expected to host a small private gathering at their Royal apartment.
Now that is one excessive birthday card! While Prince William and Duchess Catherine are reportedly asking their guests not to bring presents to the first birthday party, it seems that they can’t restrain members of the public. Created by Hangar8 Aviation, at London Oxford Airport this hand-painted Bombardier Challenger aircraft is thought to be the most expensive birthday card ever created – valued at approx AUD $220,000

It is thought that George’s grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall will skip the party as they are in Scotland on annual leave.
Prince George’s great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth is thought to be attending the party but Clarence House have advised that she will not be the guest the of honour as earlier thought. The day after the birthday celebrations, she will travel to Glasgow to open the Commonweatlh Games.
Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh is unable to make it due to other official engagements.
George’s doting grandparents Michael and Carole Middleton are expected to attend but it hasn’t been confirmed that the party-planners will be organising the event although they did host another Peter Rabbit themed party for the family on Friday at the Bucklebury home.
Proud auntie Pippa Middleton will no doubt be in attendance also.
As one of George’s godparents, Zara Phillips will no doubt be in attendance too.
George’s multiple other godparents are expected to be in attendance too – these include (on the left) former private secretary of the royal pair Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton and (right) Princess Diana’s friend Julia Samuel with Hugh Grosvenor, far right.
The other godparents, who are all expected to attend (from left to right): Kate’s school friend Emilia Jardine-Paterson, William’s childhood friend William van Cutsem and Oliver Baker who attended University with William and Kate.
