The 21 highest earning models pulled in a combined total of US $142 million over the past 12 months with the phenomenally successful Gisele pulling in over five times more than runners-up Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima.

The money mag Forbes calculated each model’s income from June 2013 to June 2014 factoring in earnings from cosmetics, endorsements, advertising and fragrance deals.

Forbes rates social media and the number of Instagram followers a model has as one of the defining factors for mega-wealth. Although overall it seems that being a Victoria’s Secret Angel plays a huge part in their success too. Only five out of the top 21 highest earners never having walked the runway for the lingerie label which is famed for their extravagant catwalk shows.
Out of Forbes’ list of 21 – here’s a look at the ten highest ranked.

Miranda Kerr – Australia’s own supermodel has been a busy bee ranking in the top ten. She pulled in US $7 million with contracts as the face of Wonderbra, H&M, Swarovski, Reebok, Mango, Shopstyle and of course her own line of cosmetics- Kora Organics.

Gisele Bündchen – Ranked at the top spot, Gisele reportedly raked in US $47 million last year – which equates to $128,000 a day – trumping the $10,000 a day that Linda Evangelista reportedly refused to get out of bed for less than in the 90s.
Doetzen Kroes – The 29 year-old Dutch Victoria’s Secret angel, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, has contracts with L’Oreal cosmetics, Calvin Klein fragrance and H&M among others – leading her to earn US $8 million in the last financial year.

Adriana Lima – In equal second with Doetzen with earnings of US $8 million, Adriana, 33 is of course famous for being Victoria’s Secret longest running angel and is also the face of Maybelline.
Kate Moss – She’s not very active on the catwalk these days but she’s still the face of Rimmel as well as a collaborator on her own fashion line for Topshop, so Kate certainly isn’t doing too badly for herself at age 40, with a reported income of US $7 million.
Kate Upton – A newcomer to the models rich list, Kate, 22, is of course famous for her Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers, which she’s capitalised on by using it to land modelling contracts with Bobbi Brown cosmetics and Express clothing as well as kick-starting her film career starring in The Other Woman which has earned her US $7 million.
Liu Wen – She was the first Chinese model to walk the runway as a Victoria’s Secret angel and is also the face of Estee Lauder and the body of La Perla lingerie with earnings over US $7 million.
Alessandra Ambrosio – Surprise surprise – it’s another Victoria’s Secret Angel! The 33-year-old Brazilian mother-of-two is estimated to have pulled in US $5 million last year and has contracts with PINKO and H&M as well as her own clothing line with Planet Blue.

Hilary Rhoda – As well as walking for Victoria’s Secret, the 17-year-old American has got herself a juicy eight-year contract with Estee Lauder which has helped her rake in US $5 million.
Natalia Vodianova – The Russian 32-year-old hasn’t let being a mother of four stop her from landing some lucrative contracts for Calvin Klein Euphoria and Guerlain cosmetics lingerie label Etam which has earned her an estimated $4 million over the past year.
It-girl Cara Delevingne missed out on a spot amongst the top ten but is still amongst the highest earners having pulled in over $3.5 million over the past year – beaten out just slightly by her pals Jourdan Dunn and Karlie Kloss who each earned a cool $4million.
