George Clooney is a bachelor no more as he marries Amal Alamuddin in Venice
The world’s most notorious bachelor, George Clooney is officially off the market!
“George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy,” the actor’s representative said in a statement.
George and Amal were married by, the former mayor of Rome, close friend Walter Veltroni.
The Hollywood star has married high-flying British lawyer fiancee, Amal Alamuddin, 36, in a luxury location in Venice.
The couple, who announced their engagement in April, tied the knot at one of the world’s most expensive hotels – the Palazzo Papadopoli, Hotel Aman in Venice.
The highly anticipated wedding included a star-studded guest list including Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, U2’s Bono, Bill Murray, fashion editor Anna Wintour and George’s good friend Cindy Crawford.
Earlier this month, the 53-year-old actor spoke for the first time about his new wife and their wedding plans.
“I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, who I will be marrying in a couple of weeks in Venice, of all places,” he said during an acceptance speech at the Celebrity Fight Night in Italy.
“Amal, I love you to death and I cannot wait to become your husband.”
The couple have planned a very elaborate four day event in Venice, with the city’s town hall pitching in to assist with the celebrations. George’s water taxi was flagged by a fleet of police boats en route to the wedding and scores of tourists and onlookers lined the canals to wave at the veritable army of glamorous celebrities as they arrived.
