Grant Hackett has finally struck gold in his love life with a gorgeous new sweetheart!
Grant Hackett couldn’t have looked any more in love when he stepped out in Surfers Paradise with his gorgeous new sweetheart Debbie Savage.
Grant was beaming as he went for a stroll and a spot of lunch with his new love-interest on a gorgeous summer day.
Debbie and Grant, both 34, met at the Australian Institute of Sport, where former star distance runner Debbie works as a trainer.
“They hit it off immediately,” reveals a close friend. “They make each other laugh and both share a love for healthy living. I wouldn’t be surprised if Debbie’s the reason Grant’s so committed to his swimming at the moment.”
The relationship marks a turning point for Grant who, looking relaxed and happy, couldn’t be further from the man one year ago, was pictures wandering nearly naked through Melbourne’s Crown casino searching for his missing son.
Grant’s meltdown came after his marriage to singer Candice Alley imploded in 2011, with whom he has twins Charlize and Jagger, 5. The former Olympian admitted abusing prescription drugs and made headlines for all the wrong reasons in 2012 after going on a drunken rage and trashing his penthouse.
It seems now though, happy with Debbie, Grant has put those dark days behind him. “She’s the loveliest girl you could ever meet,” Debbie’s former training partner reveals.
