Madonna has announced plans to tour Australia in what will be her first performance Down Under in almost a quarter of a century.

Madonna, 56, has announced plans to take her latest international tour, in support of her new album Rebel Heart, to Asia and Australia in early 2016.

Clearly not perturbed by her recent shock fall down a flight of stairs while on stage at the Brit Awards, Madge is picking herself back up with the world tour officially kicking off in Miami in August this year.

It will mark 23 years since Madonna’s last performance for Australian audiences when she played her Girlie Show: Live Down Under show at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1993.

President of Global touring and chairman of Global Music, Arthur Fogel, told Billboard that Madonna’s absence from the Australian stage was “kind of bizarre when you think about it, that a superstar like that hasn’t been to a pretty regular touring area for [almost] 25 years.”

The new tour will accompany what is the Material Girl’s 13th studio album. “Madonna continues to be one of the most successful touring artists in history – her shows are legendary and we are thrilled to have her going back on tour,” Arthur said.

While she may be nearing her late 60s, Madonna is still an indomitable onstage force, with her last international tour of 2008/09, titled Sticky & Sweet ranked as the highest grossing tour of all time for a solo artist.

The fall at the Brit Awards was quite brutal but was caught on camera and immediately went global, causing many to wonder if it was an intentional publicity grab/

Madonna loves to prove that she still has the ability provoke shock and awe – such as on the red carpet at the Grammy’s recently when she flashed the waiting cameras!

Madonna also loves to stir up trouble on social media, posting provocative pictures like this to her Instagram.

Clearly keen to keep her rebel spirit alive, when she stepped out in Paris this week, Madonna was keen to prove that in spite of her recent fall offstage, she’s not afraid of heights with these giant platform shoes!
