Silver coins to celebrate royal baby's birth

Babies born the same day as Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge’s first child receive a special gift!

The Royal Mint is giving away 2,013 silver coins to babies born on the same day as the royal baby.

The solid silver coin is open to any child born in the UK on the date, but is capped at 2,013 with 2,000 children delivered daily in the UK on average.

The coin comes in a pink or blue pouch and normally costs $43. It is engraved with the year 2013 and a shield of the Royal Arms.

“The birth of the royal baby will be a joyous occasion not just for [the couple] but also for the whole nation, as we prepare to celebrate another remarkable milestone in their life journey together,” Shane Bissett, Director of Commemorative Coin at the Royal Mint, said in a statement.

Parents can get in touch with the Royal Mint within 60 days following their child’s birth to claim one of the coins.
