First it was the Queen, and now Prince William has found himself victim of a bad paint job.
A rather unpleasant portrait of the Duke of Cambridge has been unveiled and instead of brushing it aside, royal admirers all over the world are having their say about it.
Titled ‘Fatherhood’, the oil painting depicts a seemingly exhausted future king and has been labelled as ‘pretty awful’ by critics.
The artwork created by world renowned artist Dan Llywelyn Hall, who also painted a portrait of the Queen last year, has been slammed on social media.
One twitter user went as far as comparing the image of William, who became a dad for the first time last July, to English comedian Alan Partridge.
Meanwhile, former editor of Art Review David Lee has described it as “terrible”.
“It looked pretty awful to me I have to say,” he said.
“But then the same artist portrayed the Queen and that one was terrible as well.
“This one of Prince William is pretty awful. It is not a very good likeness and looked badly drawn. Some of the planes of the face are in different places. The head is not developed as a volume which is what good drawers do.”
The painting was revealed at the Wales Office in Whitehall to coincide with the 100th anniversary of start of the First World War.
There’s no word yet on what William himself thinks of the piece.
