Nicholas Brendon, who played the goofy yet lovable Xander Harris on the 90s vampire series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.

“[Brendon] was with his girlfriend and they got into an argument,” Palm Springs Police Sgt. William Hutchinson told KESQ-TV. “During the argument at the bar, he pulled her arm and then violently pulled her by her hair.”

The attack occurred at a hotel bar in Palm Springs on October 11. Police were called and Nicholas was arrested, only to be released on a $50,000 bail the next day.

According to police, the girlfriend (who hasn’t been named) allegedly has protective orders against him in Florida and New York. He’s permitted to be around her, but cannot injure, harass, assault or threaten her.

Nicholas has had many run-ins with the law.

The 46-year-old has had a troubled life since appearing alongside Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

In October 2015, the Criminal Minds actor plead guilty to criminal mischief after fighting with his girlfriend – he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and smashed her phone.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer ran from 1997-2003.

In the same year, he entered rehab for substance abuse, depression and alcoholism, and later returned four months later for another program for depression.

In September 2015, Nicholas opened up to Dr Phil about his drinking problems.

Nicholas played Buffy’s best friend, Xander.

“It goes from, Hey, I’m having fun, to then I literally needed to have a drink before I could have a conversation with people,” he confessed.

“Drinking initially quells the anxiety, definitely, but then it just adds to the anger.”
