The real reason Kyly Clarke quit Dancing with the Stars

A pulled hamstring was the reason given for Kyly Clarke hanging up her dancing shoes and departing Dancing with the Stars… but was that the only problem?

The choice to pull out was devastating for Kyly, who admits she was “having an absolute blast”, but it has also created a storm of speculation.

Woman’s Dayhas learned that Kyly’s hubby – cricketer Michael Clarke, who is in Dubai for a test series, flew into a jealous rage when he found out Kyly’s dance partner Damian Whitewood wasn’t gay as he had first thought.

“He was under the impression Damian wasn’t interested in women – nothing could be further from the truth!” we hear.

While Kyly, 33, tried to overcome the pain from her injury, her relationship with Damian was becoming an increasing source of tension.

“It’s Damian I feel sorry for – he came back from LA for this gig. It’s not his fault he’s good-looking and popular with the ladies,” our on-set source says.

“Kyly has been under enormous pressure – and not just because of her injury,” confirms the source. “She broke down in tears at a photoshoot after speaking with Michael and everyone has been concerned for her. The chemistry between Kyly and Damien is electric, so would it be a surprise if Michael was jealous?”

“I know she’s been in pain from her injury but I also know Michael will be much happier knowing she’s not spending time in another man’s arms while he’s playing cricket overseas,” says our source.

“It’s been an issue between them and Kyly hasn’t been able to hide how upset it’s made her. She’s been in tears several times.”

As Kyly publicly flaunted her tight bond with Damian on social media, Michael seemed to grow increasingly insecure about it.

When he heard Kyly had been injured, he encouraged her to “put her health first”, calling on Cricket Australia sports physician Dr John Orchard to advise her of the dangers of staying in the comp.

“The doctor really had to convince me I couldn’t do the show,” Kyly said.

After last week’s show aired, Michael tweeted support for his wife, who was an early favourite to take the title. “Devastated for my wife @KylyClarke. I might be a little biased but I believe she would have won,” he posted.
