Melbourne sweethearts Lisa and Adam win House Rules

They were dubbed this year’s dark horses, and now Melbourne young guns Lisa Lamond and Adam Dovile have won House Rules, 2014.

The engaged couple have taken out the reality renovation show, following a nail-biting grand final showdown against Perth favourites Carole and Russell Bramston.

Proving that nice guys can finish first, the spectacular result means the $540,000 mortgage on the couples newly renovated 1960s weatherboard home in Bulleen will be paid off.

During tonight’s final episode on Channel Seven, the loved-up Gen Y’s faced off against the bickering veterans in the ultimate renovation challenge.

Both teams had to create a bar and spa area at each others houses in just four days.

But it was Adam and Lisa’s balinese inspired design, which featured a luxury outdoor shower and rich use of timber, which saw them claim victory.

“It was beatifully designed,” judge Wendy Moore said.

“I loved the materials you chose and it was a stunning result.”

Woman’s Day understands the self-proclaimed workaholics postponed their April wedding before entering the competition so they could save to pay off their mortgage.

“This means we can now get married and start a family,” an excited Lisa said.
