Lucky escape: Home and Away’s Josh Gallagher caught up in ‘surreal’ rockfall!

Home and Away heartthrob Jackson Gallagher, aka Josh Barrett, had a lucky escape after he was caught up in a sudden rockfall incident during an ice-climbing adventure in New Zealand.

The 24-year-old, who had travelled to the popular tourist destination back in July while on a break from filming, was forced to duck for cover when rocks the size of ‘cars and fridge’s’ began to plunge down towards him and three fellow climbers not once, but twice.

The Melbourne-born actor and keen photographer described the terrifying incident on Franz Josef glacier as “surreal.”

“It was a surreal experience, I was relieved no one was hurt,” Jackson told Sydney’s Confidential.

“Something like this is a reminder of a nature’s unpredictability.”

Meanwhile, a British tourist who was with Josh at the time said she knew they were in trouble when she heard “a loud thunderclap.”

“I turned round and I saw a mass of cloud and rocks and noticed our guide’s face had gone from normal to sheer panic as the rocks started to hurl towards us,” Krystle Morley, 28, told the Yorkshire Post.

“I had my hands over my head to protect it because even the smaller rocks could’ve wiped me out.

“We were hunkered down for what seemed like forever and I was just thinking, ‘Any minute now, we are going to get crushed’.”

Luckily, everyone managed to walk away unscathed.
