The Block contestant Darren Jolly has spoken out for the first time since his terrifying surgery where he had a lesion removed from his brain.

The 33-year-old sat down with A Current Affairs Tracy Grimshaw in teeling interview about his ordeal.

“I have a lump in the middle of my brain.” Darren stated candidly.

Darren was joined by his wife and Block partner, Deanne.

Darren was very different to his usual outgoing self. The former AFL star was very shaken, telling Tracy “I’m only 33!”.

His usual head of hair was shaven and bandaged, underneath revealing two large stiches and bruises.

Doctors discovered the lump at a Melbourne hospital just last week before, performing a ventriculostomy which involves drilling through a patients skull to drain fluid.

“His surgery went well and two incision points were created to drain the fluid, which has eased the pressure and headaches,” a channel nine spokesman said.

The former AFL player and his wife Deanne are now waiting test results to determine whether it is cancerous and whether he will require further surgery, chemotherapy or radiation.

“A biopsy has been taken to determine what the lump is,” the spokesman continued.

“Darren will know more about his condition over the next week. Until then there will be no further comment and he and his family respectfully request privacy while they navigate their way through this serious and sensitive issue.”

The couple, who have two daughters, are returning favourites on The Block Triple Threat.
