A Russian diplomat has reportedly shot dead an attempted robber in Rio a day ahead of the Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Channel 9 is reporting that the shooting took place after a local tried to mug the Russian deputy consul who fought back.
Nine is also reporting that the fatal incident took place on The Avenue of Americas, not to far from the athletes village.
