Sam Rouen’s gone from super chunk to super hunk – he’s still single ladies!
When he entered The Biggest Loser house 6 years ago as a baby-faced 19-year-old with “love handles” and “man cans”, Sam Rouen – then 155kg – never imagined he’d one day be voted one of Australia’s hottest firefighters – let alone have girls around the nation swooning!
“It’s been overwhelming,” Sam tells us. “The amount of support I’ve received is phenomenal.”
Sam, who won The Biggest Loser season 3 after losing a whopping 71kg on the reality show, has made an incredible transformation, which has seen him go from a university student huffing and puffing up stairs and indulging in pizza to a ripped firefighter who works hard to stay in shape.
“I look at old photos and can’t believe how far I’ve come,” he says. “But I also wish it never got to that stage.”

Now, the 26-year old is a hot favourite to feature in the 2016 NSW Firefighters Calendar. “To think I have the opportunity to even have the chance to be in Australia’s best-selling calendar is something I thought would never be achievable,” he smiles. “It’s a great thing to get behind, they raise so much money for the kids at Wetmead Burns Unit and it’s amazing.”
Sam, who reveals he’s only ever had one serious girlfriend, is still coming to terms with his new sex-symbol status. “I didn’t have any attention whatsoever before The Biggest Loser and it can be quite intimidating and scary because you look at yourself and think I’m the same person I was before I lost the weight and no one was interested then,” he says. “You want to find someone who loves you for who you are and not for what you look like and what you’ve done – someone who appreciates the rawest part of you.”
As he gears up to pose shirtless for the 2016 calendar, Sam’s star looks set to keep rising, but his feet remain firmly on the ground.
