Schapelle: From prison hellhole to world-class resort

How Schapelle celebrated her freedom

After signing parole papers, Schapelle went straight to the Sentosa Luxury Villas in Seminyak.

Schapelle Corby is spending her first hours of freedom in world-class luxury after checking into a secluded five-star resort with a private pool, spa and restaurant run by Luke Mangan.

In just a matter of hours, Schapelle has gone from her prison hellhole to private villa.

She was seen checking into the Sentosa Luxury Villas in Seminyak with a news crew and veteran current affairs host Mike Willesee.

A large media pack, including photographers on scooters, followed the recently released 36-year-old, who has spent the past nine years behind bars.

Schapelle was reportedly “traumatised” by the intesnse media scrum who followed her throughout her release.

“We asked her about her condition and she once cried, saying she’s still in trauma over the journalists,” Agung Bagus Kusimantara, head of the Intelligence Section in Denpasar’s Prosecutions Office said.

Following her release Schapelle was expected to live with her sister Mercedes, who has reportedly split from her husband Wayan Widyartha. The couples’ separation has raised questions about whether Schapelle will live at the Kuta beach compound at all.

It is understood the Corby family has bought at least one other Bali property in recent times.

The Bali Corrections Board has stated that her parole conditions are not affected by where she lives, as long as she can attend her monthly inspections dressed “respectfully”.

While Wayan, a Balinese local, is her official guarantor, her sister Mercedes will primarily care for her.
