Schapelle, 36, allegedly tried to take her own life after two officials went to the house where she was staying. Schapelle allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill herself.
The head of the corrections division of the Bali justice office, Sunar Agus said he was visiting Schapelle with a parole officer at her family’s Kuta home on Monday night when the incident happened.
“I can’t tell someone’s intention, but what I saw in front of me was that she tried to commit suicide. She took a knife, but the family stopped her and the parole officer stopped her,” he told Fairfax media.
Her sister Mercedes has reportedly denied Schapelle attempted suicide.
The incident comes following reports that her parole may be revoked, with growing speculation that Indonesian authorities are considering taking action after her sister Mercedes Corby gave an interview about Schapelle’s release to the Seven Network’s Sunday Night.
Mr Amir told Indonesian newspaper Kompas that if he revoked parole, it would largely be the fault of her family.
“If it came to that decision … you would have to lay most of the responsibility on her family, which I believe has shown no concern for [the political pressure] we’ve had to face in her case,” Mr Amir said.
The program also aired video footage of Schapelle following her release from Kerobokan Prison.
Indonesian justice minister Amir Syamsuddin said he will make a decision about Schapelle’s parole within days.
“I am waiting for a complete report from the Bali Corrections Board, and in the meantime I’d like to announce that there’s a possibility I will revoke Corby’s parole,” he said.
