Greg Norman recovering after chainsaw accident

Golfing great Greg Norman is out of hospital and recovering after a chainsaw accident which almost left him without the use of his left hand.

The 59-year-old was cleaning up some tress in the backyard of his home on Jupiter Island, Florida when a large branch unexpectedly started to come down on him.

As he attempted to avoid the branch, he dropped the chainsaw and the weight of the branch brought his arm down upon the saw, which, thankfully, wasn’t operating at full speed.

“I am a lucky man. Damaged but not down and out,” he tweeted alongside an image of himself in hospital, recovering after surgery.

Greg had surgery to repair some minor nerve damage, but will not sustain any long-term, permanent damage to his left arm.

In a statement on his website, he said he is looking forward to making a speedy recovery.

“Thank you to everyone for their concern and well wishes. I look forward to getting back out there to attack that tree like I planned on doing yesterday. No tree is going to keep me down,” he said.
