Peter Overton is comforted by wife Jessica Rowe after spinal surgery

Peter, 48, who presents Channel 9’s Sydney news in addition to contributing to 60 Minutes, posted a “sickbed selfie” of himself in a hospital bed looking rather worse for wear.

“My darling wife @JessRowe a delight 2 see after emerging from spinal surgery,” Peter tweeted yesterday morning.

Nine News reports that Peter, 48, took leave for treatment last Thursday after feeling in constant pain last week and almost losing all feeling in his right arm and hand.

An MRI scan revealed that he had a ruptured disc near the top of his spine which required that he undergo surgery immediately at the advice of a neurosurgeon, as he was at risk of permanent nerve damage.

Peter told Nine News today: “I’ll be in hospital for a few days and I am looking forward to getting back to work. The support from my friends at 9NEWS has been amazing,”

It’s a good thing that Peter has his Studio 10 presenter wife Jessica by his side to support him!

The newsreader pair tied the knot back in 2004 and have two daughters together, Allegra and Giselle, whom they welcomed after several attempts at IVF . We’re sure Jessica and the girls will nurse him back to good health!
