The couple’s official engagement photos in particular drew many comparisons between those taken at the time of Catherine and William’s engagement announcement. Sofia even wore a blue dress that echoed the design by British label Issa worn by Duchess Catherine at the official palace photocall.

The remarkable similarities of the two brunette royals – Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Sofia Hellqvist – fiancee to Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, is perhaps most striking in their engagement photos.
The Swedish royal family released the photos of the couple accompanied by a statement that “The Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announce the engagement between Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist. After His Majesty The King of Sweden had given his consent to the marriage between Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist, His Majesty requested the approval by the Swedish Government, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Swedish Constitution.”
The Swedish couple met at a nightclub in 2009.
The gown that Sofia wore to last year’s Swedish royal wedding of Princess Madeleine is remarkably similar in cut to Pippa Middleton’s infamous bridesmaid’s dress as well a sequinned gown that Duchess Kate wore to a previous event in London.
Before she joined the royal ranks, Sofia Hellqvist previously worked as a yoga teacher,reality-TV star and reportedly a one-time glamour model.
Duchess Catherine and Sofia are also similar in that they chose gallant gentlemen to marry who will always hold the umbrella for them!
Both Catherine and Sofia were a similar age when they got engaged, and Catherine already has one child, with a second on the way, so with the Swedish royal wedding scheduled to take place next year – we’re sure it won’t be long before we hear the pitter-patter of tiny royal feet!
