Angelina Jolie, 39, surprised fans by announcing that she and Brad Pitt were in fact already married before their wedding ceremony in France in August last year.
The Unbroken director made the surprise admission to Italian publicationIO Donnaover the weekend.
“Before the wedding in France with the kids, Brad and I were already married in California,” Angelina said.
“As Americans, we couldn’t marry legally in France.”
The surprise news came after Ange and Brad stepped out on the red carpet yesterday at the 2015 AFI Awards, to mark the start of the 2015 Awards season.
There was no sign of Hollywood’s Golden couple on the red carpet at today’s Golden Globes though, as Ange was snubbed for an award’s nomination for best director for her latest film Unbroken.
Brad and Ange celebrated their wedding (for what was thought to be the first time!) in Château Miraval in Correns- a town in rural France, in August last year.
It was an intimate ceremony, carried out in secret, with the couple’s six children Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and 6-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne all taking part in the private event.
It seems though that their OTHER secret nuptials were even more subdued, as Angelina revealed: “One day I said to Brad, ‘Let’s meet up at 4:30 pm?’ I called a justice of the peace and we signed the documents.”
You gotta hand it to Brad and Ange – for one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples, they sure know how to keep it low-key!
