The Block to undergo major changes for 2015

The Block Triple Threat

The Block is set to be rocked by a major shake-up in 2015 for the new season of The Block: Triple Threat, after a disappointing end to the Glasshouse series last year for many contestants.

Last year’s shock season finale for The Block Glasshouse saw a disastrous outcome for contestants whose hard work netted them miniscule profits on auction day.

Now, Channel Nine are taking measures to ensure that it doesn’t happen again in the new series The Block: Triple Threat.

Three buyers advocates have been added to the show’s line-up to help look after the Block-heads best interests.

The advocates (pictured above) will include Frank Valentic from Advantage Property, who has attended past Block auction days, Nicole Jacobs from Jacobs Buying Group who has also bid on previous auction days on the show and Greville Pabst from WBP Property Group.

The buyer’s advocates will judge contestants’ work alongside previous season’s judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker.

The show’s Executive Producer Julian Cress told News.com.au: “Everyone has an opinion on the rooms and apartments on The Block but no one’s opinion matters more for the contestants than the actual buyers on auction day.”

“We thought giving them some feedback from people who might be ultimately bidding on their apartment would be a valuable addition to the program.”

Scott Cam and the returning favourites on The Block: Triple Threat

The announcement comes after last year’s disastrous results on The Block Glasshouse. While winners Shannon and Simon walked away with a $335,000 profit, (plus the $100k prize) and runners up Chris and Jenna made a profit of $310,000, the other three couples weren’t so lucky.

Maxine and Karstan made just $40,000 on their apartment while Michael and Carlene and Dee and Darren made a dismal $10,000 profit each from their auctions after months of hard work.

Not letting that stop them though, Dee and Darren announced that they’d be returning for the new season as one of the ‘Triple Threat’ couples of the show’s title.

The couple are one of three returning couples and six new couples to be featured in Nine’s new series which is due to air in early 2015 – watch some of the new line-up in the sneak-preview video below.

The other returning two returning couples are the Victorian Bec and George and West Australians Matt and Kim – both from The Block Sky High series.

The Block: Triple Threat will kick off on Tuesday January 27th on Channel Nine.
