Behind the scenes: A glimpse at Amal’s bridal gown fitting

In the latest news, Vogue.com have released a stunning image of George Clooney’s bride, Amal Alamuddin at the fitting of her wedding dress with couturier Oscar de la Renta.

“He is the man every woman wants to hug!” Amal, 36, said of the famous fashion designer.

“George and I wanted a wedding that was romantic and elegant, and I can’t imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress,” she said. “Meeting him made the design process all the more magical, as he is so warm and such a gentleman.”

The stunning image, by acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz as well as the accompanying article on Vogue.com reveals some of the painstaking detailing that respected fashion designer Oscar put into the creation of the dress.

“It’s the most important dress in the life of a woman,” Oscar said. “Any girl from any walk of life dreams of that special dress, and I try to make that dream a reality for her. Amal and I looked at a lot of evening dresses and wedding dresses together, and we discussed what she liked. That gave me the idea of what she wanted.”

While in attendance at Amal’s fitting, Vogue.com also detailed seeing the highly-educated barrister’s articulate multilingual skills in action, writing: “She discusses the details of the tailoring with Ilardo in French before replying to her mother’s questions in Arabic and proceeding to implore de la Renta, in English, to join their wedding festivities in order to see the dresses in action.”

There was indeed more than one dress being fitted as  Oscar also designed a second, fun dress for Amal for later on the night of wedding festivities– a: “Gatsby-style party frock that de la Renta is supplying as the second act of the evening.”

It seems that the elaborate and heavy train on Amal’s dress also offered its own challenges as Oscar declared that the twelve-year-old flower girl Mia (daughter of Amal’s sister Tala) wouldn’t be able to carry it alone. “That won’t be enough,” Oscar said. “You will need a grown-up to help as well—your sister.”
